Forkin' about

Img_2850_forkOne of the things Dave and I do on our boys’ days out while we’re waiting to be served in restaurants is play with our miniature toys.

There’s nothing quite like a good fiddle with a small point-and-shoot camera to draw the curiosity from onlookers at neighbouring tables, as we build our impromptu still life arrangements. This must surely drive the waiting staff insane, though I hasten to add that we are decent enough tippers whenever the ensuing banter turns into fun.

Tinkering with the place settings, a breach of the rules of dining etiquette in most places, appears to be compulsive behaviour for the starving artist within me.

Here’s my attempt at enduring the low blood sugar period between spying a special on the menu and eating it. I had to be really quick: the waitress replaced my fork with a soup spoon almost before I'd made this picture.
